Cyber Safety Summit | 7/22/2008
The NY City Council is hosting the first Cyber Safety Summit for students, parents and educators. It will be held at City Hall on August 9th and I'll be there along with Kids@Play speakers and sponsors Parry Aftab, Rachel Dretzin, Microsoft, Symantec, Google, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, and more.  Here's the summary of the press conference we held yesterday.

 

Most of you have probably not given much thought to the place where politics and video games collide but it’s an interesting place to visit. GamePolitics.com was created as one of a group of sites by the ECA (Entertainment Consumers Association) a new advocacy group for gamers. Today their report on the medicinal value of video touched a nerve, though I’m not sure how I’d fare were I to submit the cost of WarCraft to my health insurance provider.

 

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)  announced a new technology event and competition designed to uncover the most innovative new consumer technology products coming to market

 

According to an audit by VERIS Consulting LLC, 141,150 people attended the Las Vegas-based event in January 2008.

 

At the January 2008 CES, the Sandbox Summit was hailed as a conversation starter, providing an innovative and provocative way to experience the world of today’s digital kids. This year we’ll be exploring the issues, from storybooks to Facebook, even greater depth See what they’re saying about us.
